Compatibility of DJI Goggles & Motion Controllers with DJI Drones

In this article, we’ll look at which combinations of DJI headsets (such as Goggles, Goggles 2, and Goggles 3) and controllers (such as RC Motion 2 and RC Motion 3) work with which drones. The basic information comes from the official DJI compatibility list.

What does “compatibility” mean in this context?

  • A “√” indicates that the listed goggles or Controller are compatible with the drone model in question.

  • An “×” indicates that DJI has specified that this combination is not supported.

  • For compatible combinations, restrictions may apply—for example, streaming is only available through the glasses, or only certain features work. This is indicated for each combination in the list.

  • Pay attention to firmware versions: often, the drone, the goggles, and the Controller (or motion controller) must all be up to date to ensure compatibility.

Important Tables

Below is a summary of compatibility for commonly used drones and accessories.

Table 1: Compatibility of Goggles with Drones

Note: With some combinations, only certain features are supported (such as video playback via glasses only, or no smart modes).

Specific Examples & Limitations

  • For the DJI Mini 4 Pro paired with DJI Goggles 3 and RC Motion 3: firmware v01.00.0400 or higher is required. Some intelligent flight features are not supported—for example, MasterShots, Waypoint Flight, and QuickShots.

  • For the DJI Air 3 paired with Goggles 3 and RC Motion 3, firmware version v01.00.12.00 or higher is required. Again, the goggles only provide video transmission; certain controller functions do not work fully.

  • For the DJI Mavic 3 Pro paired with Goggles Integra / Goggles 2 and RC Motion 2: firmware v01.01.0100 or higher is required. Please note: The pairing supports only specific “normal” recording modes, and some intelligent flight modes may be limited.

Practical Tips for Purchasing and Using

  1. Check the firmware: Before you buy or connect a headset or Controller to your drone, make sure that the drone, headset, and Controller all have the required firmware versions.

  2. Read the “limitations”: “Compatible” does not mean that all features will work—check which features are and aren’t supported for your specific combination.

  3. Use the recommended combinations: This will help you avoid disappointments such as no video feed, poor performance, or the disabling of certain smart flight modes.

  4. Please keep future updates in mind: DJI may release new compatibility lists or update firmware versions.

  5. Compatibility ≠ optimal performance: Even if something works, the user experience may vary (latency, pairing, image quality) depending on the combination.

Conclusion

Compatibility between DJI drones, Goggles, and controllers can be complex, but it’s easy to understand when presented in tables and official lists. With the right combination—the right hardware and firmware—you can get the most out of your drone setup. By checking in advance which goggles or Controller work with your drone, you can avoid frustration.

Do you have a specific drone model in mind that you’d like to check for compatibility with all available accessories? If so, I’d be happy to help you with a customized table!
