Since the release of the new DJI Mavic Mini and the DJI Mavic Air 2, DJI has been using a new app called DJI Fly.
In addition to compatibility issues with certain smartphones and tablets, we also occasionally hear about various recurring problems. We’ll list them here along with their possible solutions.
The app isn’t available on the Google Play Store on your device.
Open a web browser on your device and go to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dji.go.v5; this will take you to the app’s installation page.
If this doesn’t work, open the following website: https://play.google.com/store, and search for “DJI”; you should then find the DJI Fly app in the list of available apps.
The app won’t install, or it doesn’t open at startup.
If you launch the app and see the message:“This app is not compatible with your device,”first check the version of your Android OS: Settings > About Device > Android Version (This may vary depending on your device. If your device’s version is lower than 6.0.0, first try upgrading your device to a version higher than 6.0.0 using any available update.)
If your phone or tablet is running Android version 6.0 or later but you still can’t install or open the app, first check to see if your device is a 64-bit device. To do this, see our article on device compatibility with the app.
You can launch the app, but you can’t connect to the drone.
- Turn everything off (smartphone or tablet, Controller, and drone), restart the smartphone or tablet, turn on the Controller, wait a moment, and then turn on the drone.
- Unplug the USB cable from the Controller and plug it back in.
- Try using a different USB cable between the remote controller and your smartphone or tablet. We recommend using the original USB cable that came with the device. However, if the cable is too short, make sure you’re using the correct cable.
- For Android devices, you should check to make sure that“USB debugging”is enabled. Go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager, and select DJI Fly. Tap “Set as default” and “Clear defaults.” Reconnect your smartphone to the remote controller using the USB cable and launch the DJI Fly app.
- Update the firmware and the DJI Fly app.
